Research Proposal

<Research Proposal>

-What is my current topic?

My current topic is "Which is more important in travel: Quantity or Quality?" My essay will be about what can be useful in increasing efficiency of tourism (travel) or ways to improve the quality of travel through considering travel elements, especially by comparing merits and demerits of quantity and quality tour.

(In this topic, quality means to stay long time in certain attractions and quantity means to visit as many attractions as one can)

- What are my guiding questions?

  • Why should the quality or quantity be considered in tour?
  • What is the advantage of the tour focused on quality, and what about the tour focused on quantity?
  • How many times people should spend for quality tour?
  • How many places people should visit for quantitative tour?
  • What is the role of the guide of each tour(quantity and quality)?
  • Is there any difference about costs between two types of travel?

- What are my current thoughts?

My opinion is that it is quality that is important in traveling. I would persuade people of that the quality tour is better than quantitative tour with these reasons; the tiredness of quantitative tour, possibility of a deep appreciation, and  freedom from time limitations.

- The tiredness of quantitative tour

: If people visit as many places as they can, it would leads to the tiredness of people. (The more places         people visit, the more tired they would be.) That is, people would be likely to fail in deep appreciation about the tour attractions as time goes by because of lack of the strength.

- The possibility of a deep appreciation

: Just as the saying " You can see as much as you know," the information about the tour place that a person visit would help him or her to understand the place deeply than not knowing anything about it.

- The limitation of time

: If a tour concentrates on the quantity it would make hard to watch or experience the attraction enough because of the time; people should move quickly to visit as many places as they can. This interrupts the deep appreciation of tourists.

- The quality of information
: Tough the advocator of quantitative travel might say that people can get enough information before or after the travel, but it is true that information from media is not always trustworthy and people limited to get information if what they want to know doesn't exist in media.

- What is the opposition?

The opponents might say that it is not common for ordinary people to speak the specific information and deep experiences about tour places in daily life, so it is not necessary to know detailed information about tour places. Also, they can say we can learn about specific information after or before the travel. Moreover, information sometimes can cause the boredom of the tour.
